about

Listen to Tony Harrison’s bass line in the second half of the song. Wonderful stuff – buried in the piano in the first half – no one’s fault – a four track recording is limited! Mick Knight was on keyboards for a short while – when we thought we needed a keyboard player. We didn’t - and Mick left shortly after this.

lyrics

Toothbrush in my Inside Pocket

I got a toothbrush in my inside pocket,
You never know when the war is gonna start.
Red flashes in the shopping precinct,
dull thud of shells bursting in the park.

And when the end comes I ain’t gonna panic,
I read the civil defence code.
I’ m gonna hide in the city sewer
Waiting for my head to implode.

(Repeat)

I want God to make me smile, annihilation of the super power.
Lock up the boys with their war toys,
And put them in a cupboard til they scream.

And when the end comes I ain’t gonna panic,
I read the civil defence code.
I’ m gonna hide in the city sewer,
Waiting for my head to implode.
